Recently, Second Life has limited all new animations to 60kb down about 10 times from the previous limits. This is a devasting blow to SL animators -- it means animations cannot be longer than 3 seconds!
Imagine a dance that only lasts 3 seconds!!! What can you do -- what motions can you accomplish in 3 seconds?????
Naturally every animator in SL would be outraged and lash out! Yes, every animator .... all 7 of us!!
Take a look at http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4205 -- Second Life's official JIRA on this issue! Only 6 other people complained! No additional people even voted on it!!! Why???
Because there are ONLY 7 ACTIVE ANIMATORS MAKING FULL ANIMATIONS in all of Second Life. The rest buy or, um, steal their animations. Or are just no longer actively making them and just selling what they have already done.
Im guessing buy and steal is 90 per cent with steal around the 50% mark.
Be very very aware of this the next time you buy an animation! If the animation is not made by anyone reporting the animation limits in the JIRA, just assume they are selling stolen product. Honestly, truly, this is the only wise way to proceed. Because there is no reason for any true animator NOT to complain about not being able to upload animations.
Buyer beware. Buy only from trusted sources, because SL can (and has in the past) just deleted every copy of a stolen animation from everyone's inventory once it has been verified.
And trust that AjaxGear animations are made by Ajax Manatiso -- a big big complainer about this issue -- and I will continue to complain until they lift the limits!
Be good ....
